The Word of God is an important part of our daily walk as followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. And reading it daily is for the transformation and renewal of strength of your body, soul and spirit protecting you against the works of the devil and of the flesh. The Word of God is a fountain of life, full of God’s promises to all His children. It serves as our hope, our light and our daily communication to the Father.

And in the light of reading and studying the Word of God, there are aids to help you understand the Bible better such as Bible commentaries from other theologians. A Bible commentary is written by a commentator in a series of notes which explains the meaning of passages of Scripture and or its historical context that may reflect the beliefs and perspective of the writer.

And Adam Clarke was one of the commentators who did comprehensive look at the Bible almost verse per verse. His writings were influenced by the Methodist founder John Wesley and wrote from an orthodox Methodist perspective.

Adam Clarke said that “The Bible is proved to be a revelation from God, by the reasonableness and holiness of its precepts, all its commands, exhortations and promises having the most direct tendency to make men wise, holy and happy in themselves, and useful to one another.”

Moreover, he also said that “If you go forward in the spirit of the original apostles and followers of Jesus Christ, trusting not in man but in the living God, he will enable you to pull down the strong holds of sin and Satan, and that work by which He is pleased will prosper in your hands.”
