Ever been at your patient’s bedside and wished you could remember when it’s safe to remove a chest tube? Ever followed an unstable patient from the ED to CT at 2am, wracking your brain on the best practice guideline for blunt splenic injuries? Ever been quizzed by your senior on the decision making pathways for the management of penetrating neck injuries? Ever felt under-prepared for a family meeting, overwhelmed with Google searching, and just needing to review a robust synthesis of when patients should get their rib fractures surgically fixed (or not)? If this sounds familiar, the SMH Trauma App is here to help. The SMH Trauma App is for anyone who cares for trauma patients, especially those working at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto – residents, fellows, physicians, surgeons, TTLs, RNs, NPs, and more. It’s a library in your pocket that houses the clinical guidelines and algorithms foundational to excellent care of the injured patient. No more finding time to sit at a computer, logging in, searching for the hospital policies, and wading through hundreds of other irrelevant guidelines. This is your one-stop shop for the information you need, whenever and wherever you need it, on the go – nothing more, nothing less.

Guidelines are general and cannot take into account all of the circumstances of a particular patient. This app is intended for informational purposes only and should not be used as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified healthcare provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you have read on this app.
