Videos: Portal Door App Videos

Transform any doorway into a portal to another dimension with one tap. Parents have made Portal Door the centerpiece of block-game themed birthday parties, and kids keep asking to walk through it long after the novelty should have worn off. Point your camera at a doorway, frame the opening, and watch a dimensional glow creep across the threshold — every crossing announced by a sound that echoes from somewhere just beyond the visible.

Portal Door is an augmented reality app that uses your device camera to place a glowing portal effect inside any real-world doorway. Nothing to download separately, no special hardware required, no accounts to create. Tap, frame the doorway, step back, and watch.

For the party host

Hosting a birthday party with a block-game or dungeon-adventure theme? Open Portal Door on a phone or tablet before guests arrive and prop it up near the entrance. A group of kids walking through a full-size glowing portal beats any paper banner or printed decoration — and the only cleanup is closing the app. Parents who've tried it report that the portal becomes the moment the whole party remembers, and that kids keep circling back to walk through it again long after they've moved on to cake.

For the AR demo

Trying to show someone what augmented reality can actually do? Portal Door is the demo that sticks. While most AR apps overlay stickers on a tabletop, Portal Door turns a real hallway into the effect. Point, frame, step back, watch someone walk through. The reaction is immediate and loud.

For the classroom

Teachers and after-school educators have used Portal Door to spark conversations about augmented reality, how cameras work, and how devices model three-dimensional space. There's no more vivid illustration of a device "understanding" its surroundings than letting a student walk through a doorway that, on screen, leads somewhere entirely else.

For Halloween

No decorations required. Set Portal Door running on a tablet near the front door and every visitor steps through a glowing dimensional vortex before they ever reach the candy bowl. No assembly, no power cables, no cleanup once the last guest has gone through.

For content creators

Video makers have used Portal Door for walkthroughs, reaction shoots, and "what's behind this door?" hooks. Place a phone on a stand at the far end of a hallway, open Portal Door, frame the opening, and you have a visual premise before you've written a single word of script. The reaction shot writes itself.

For game night

Running a tabletop RPG campaign with a dungeon or portal-jump theme? Open Portal Door on the doorframe of the gaming room before players arrive. Walking through a glowing dimensional rift to reach the table is a level of scene-setting no playlist or printed map can match.

What players are saying

The highest-rated review in Portal Door's history comes from a parent who set the app up at a block-game themed kids' birthday party. Their verdict: it was super cool, and the kids kept walking back through the door for more. That's the experience Portal Door is built for — the kind of moment that gets talked about on the drive home.
