NEW IN 2.0

Practice by row
In Practice Scope, choose any of the 10 rows from あ (a) to わ (wa) and practice only those. It works with hiragana, katakana or both. Learn one row, drill it, then add the next.

Shrine and omikuji
Practice earns coins. Offer 100 at the shrine to draw an omikuji, up to 3 a day.

- 500 original fortunes in seven levels, from 大吉 (great blessing) to 大凶 (great curse)
- Each slip has a short Japanese verse and nine sections: wishes, love, work, study, health, travel, money, the person you're waiting for, and lost items
- Draw a bad one and you can tie it at the shrine to leave the bad luck behind
- Every slip you draw is kept in your Omikuji Book

Fortunes are original content, for fun and gentle reminders only.

How to earn coins

- +1 per correct answer, +2 in Weak Kana and Confusion drills
- Daily tasks: +10 for your first practice of the day, up to +80 for reaching your daily goal, +20 for a session of 20+ questions at 90%+ accuracy
- Streak rewards at 3, 7, 14 and 30 days (30, 70, 150 and 300 coins), then 300 every 30 days
- 50 to 500 coins per achievement
- 100 coins on your first visit to the shrine

PRACTICE

- Four question types: kana to romaji, romaji to kana, the missing kana in a word, and matching hiragana with katakana
- Kana you miss, kana you haven't tried and kana you haven't seen in a while come up first
- Wrong options include sounds from the same row, so き comes with choices like ka and ku
- A wrong answer or timeout shows the correct answer with an example word. Press and hold to pause
- An optional 10-question placement test sets your answer time. Change it anywhere from 2 to 10 seconds

PROGRESS

- Attempts, accuracy and correct-answer streak for every kana, shown on a color-coded mastery grid
- The app notes which wrong option you picked, so you can see the pairs you mix up (details in Pro)
- Total sessions, questions, accuracy and study time

ALSO INCLUDED

- Kana Pronunciation Chart with dakuten, handakuten and yoon. Tap to hear each sound, works offline
- Daily goal of 10, 20, 30, 50 or 100 cards
- Streaks, 14 achievements and a daily reminder
- Calligraphy font, haptics, sound effects and home background pattern, all in Settings

PRO: ONE-TIME PURCHASE

- Weak Kana Drill: practice only the kana you know least
- Confusion Analysis: the pairs you mix up and how often
- Home Screen Widget: today's progress and kana to review
- iCloud Sync: sessions, achievements, coins and fortunes across your devices

A few minutes a day is enough. Start with one row.
