Pelorus: Multi-Engine Search Updates and Release Notes
See exactly what your AI answer stands on.
Pelorus 1.3.1 checks every sentence of an AI answer against the search results your AI provider was actually given. Anything those results back up carries a footnote to its source. Anything they don't back up gets marked "not in sources," and a tap shows exactly which words never appeared. Nothing gets hidden or quietly dropped: you see the whole answer and where each part comes from.
Cross-Check shows the corroboration. Every claim is traced to the engines behind it, with linked footnotes showing which were found by more than one search index and which were found by only one.
More sources feed every answer. Wikipedia, arXiv, OpenAlex, Crossref, Hacker News, and Marginalia now feed the AI answer alongside the web engines.
Pelorus tells you what happened, every time. If your AI provider fails, Pelorus says so, with Try again right on the card. An engine that can't search verbatim says so on its card. Verification checks are solved right on the engine's card, with no detour.
Turn off tracker blocking for any site. One tap in the shield menu, and the page reloads and works. Manage your exceptions anytime in Settings.
Suggestions name their source. See which engine every suggestion comes from.
Fixes and refinements
• Reader renders complex pages more completely.
• Bing results now appear on iPad.
• Search Deeper no longer reshuffles results already on screen.
• Tapping a suggestion keeps your bang, so the search runs on the engine you chose.
• A busy engine now says it's busy instead of "returned nothing."
• Find in Page is ready the moment it opens and shows the match count.
• Settings shows your license.

❯ Pelorus: Multi-Engine Search App Description
Most search apps give you one engine's answer. Pelorus asks several at once and shows you what they all found.
Run a search across Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Brave, Wikipedia, arXiv, and more. Unified Search merges the results into one ranked list, putting the pages several independent engines found above the ones only a single engine returned. When you want a closer look, every engine's own results are one swipe away.
Nothing is saved. No account. No history. No sync of what you searched. Tap the trash and your research session is gone.
— Search any combination of 14 web, specialized, and technical search engines, or add your own custom engines
— Unified Search consolidates results, transparently ranks by how much engines agree, and allows you to filter for what they don't agree on
— Key Insights shows you which engines agreed, what only one of them found, which kinds of sites dominated, and more
— AI summaries with formal citations in Chicago, APA, or MLA, using Apple Intelligence on your device or your own API key for most LLM providers
— Private browser with tracker blocking, fingerprint randomization, Face ID lock, and optional persistent login allowance lists
— Bang shortcuts, saved presets, and Siri Shortcuts
— Fine-tune consolidated ranking yourself: weight any engine from a quarter to double; boost, bury, or block any site; and see how many results each rule hid
— Gorgeous Reader mode with naturally realistic voices, custom pacing and rendering, and background playback
— Page summaries, reading lists, and exports to Markdown, PDF, or text
— Send results straight to Bear, Obsidian, or DEVONthink, or share to Joplin, Apple Notes, or any app
— Bring your own API keys for search services and AI providers — each stays in the device Keychain and goes nowhere but the provider you gave it to
One purchase unlocks everything. No subscription. No ads. No accounts.
