Know your altitude. Follow the ups and downs.

Altimeter Now brings altitude, ascent and descent into a clear view on your iPhone. Start a session to keep your elevation in a Live Activity and follow how it changes as you move.

YOUR ALTITUDE, AT A GLANCE
See altitude estimated from GPS and your iPhone's barometer. The app uses GPS readings that meet your selected accuracy threshold and falls back to calibrated barometric altitude when suitable readings are available.

FOLLOW EVERY CLIMB AND DESCENT
Track cumulative ascent and descent, plus the lowest and highest altitude in your session. Start a new session to save the previous one in your history.

LIVE ACTIVITY, MORE PLACES
Keep altitude visible on your Lock Screen. On compatible systems, your iPhone Live Activity can also appear in CarPlay and on a paired Apple Watch. These displays depend on device support, system settings and a connected iPhone.

A CLOSER LOOK AT YOUR SENSORS
Check GPS altitude and vertical accuracy, barometric altitude and atmospheric pressure. Speed, speed accuracy and course are shown when supplied by GPS.

MAKE IT YOURS
Choose metres or feet and your preferred pressure units. Adjust the GPS accuracy threshold, elevation change threshold and sampling interval. Choose Precise or Energy Saving mode before starting a session. Energy Saving mode uses less frequent GPS updates in the background.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your settings and session history are stored locally on your device. No account is required. No ads or subscriptions.

Requires iOS 26 or later. Barometric readings require a compatible iPhone with a barometer. Location and motion permissions are needed for the relevant features. Background location can increase battery use. Altitude and elevation changes are estimates; weather, GPS reception and sensor accuracy can affect readings. Live Activity updates are scheduled by the system and may be delayed. This app is not intended for safety-critical navigation.
